At the end of 2020 One Day, After School declared themselves no more. They will continue under the guise of ODAS, starting afresh to focus on less band based material and more studio / commission based activities.
This compilation wraps up some of the few loose ends. All the bands EPs and album can be found on this Bandcamp. Track information:
Bones (Extended Mix) is a longer version of the song given to the Philophobia Music ten years compilation, a version of the original song by Fur Blend. It's the only time in the bands 14 year history that a song was recorded as a full band i.e. drums, bass, guitars and vocals.
A Theory Of Everything was originally released on the Long Division compilation New Additions Vol.1
Footprints On The Ceiling was the second A of a double AA side released on Philophobia Music.
Make / Do was the B-Side to Hammer & Anvil, the first single for the album The Invisible Anchor (both released on Philophobia Music)
21st Century Winters was first released on the In Skeletal EP. The St Syrus remix is a remix of a remix originally by Shake Your Halo Down. The original remix was part of the bonus material for In Skeletal released on a handcarved USB. This remix is newly released.
Higuera ForEver is an in-band remix of Higuera which also appeared on In Skeletal.
Sphere 1 is a remix of Somasphere created by Harry Rhodes. It originally appeared as a B-Side to Somasphere.
When I Loved Music, When Everything Was New and Footprints On The Ceiling were recorded at Top Five Studios as live takes for a podcast, prior to the AA single release.
For Coca Cola (Original version demo) was originally released as bonus material for the CD version of the U-Boat EP. A new version of the song appeared on The Invisible Anchor album. Yes, it's all quite out of tune.
Everyone Is Leaving Now was one of the first One Day, After School recordings and was only released on the very short run of CDs released at gigs called Demos Are Betterer.
Back To Sleep And Back To The Real World predates One Day, After School and formed part of a university project called I Fell In Love With The Modern World. Recording the music for this (much of which is full of samples with no rights) led the path to start One Day, After School.
This version of Nova Scotia was a re-recorded version of the first song released as One Day, After School. This version appeared on the Rhubarb Bomb compilation The City Consumes Us. The original version of Nova Scotia appeared on The Sounds Of The Rhubarb Triangle.
zero growth was the name of the first ever song written by One Day, After School. It remains unreleased.
The artwork is an adaptation of a conceptual test put together for the bands first EP on Philophopbia Music, The Future Is Not Ours, Comrade.
And that's about it.
29 people played in One Day, After School over the years, either live or in the studio. Thank you to them all for their contributions and involvement and to all who released our music, let us play live and listened.
"If One Day, After School is the sound of anything, it's the sound of not following your dreams, but still following your ideals."
